M+ W Rugby garner 7 All-Conference selections

With Senior Captain Fiona Lunney leading the way, the Women’s Rugby team picked up a league leading 6 All-conference selection.  Lunney a Senior Lock, joined fellow Senior and wing Morgan Rubanow and Freshman OC Sarah Buonopane as first team selections.  Buonopane, one of only three freshman to make the team, finished tied for sixth in the league with 7 tries and 35 points.

Senior Fullback Shannon Clancy was named to the Honorable mention team along with juniors, Adelle Dagher (8 man) and Morgan Segale (Loose head Prop).  Clancy finished fourth in the league in scoring with 53 points on 5 tries and 14 conversions, even with missing a significant amount of time to injury.  Dagher finished tied with Buonopane in sixth place, totaling 35 points also.

“It certainly is great to see our players getting the recognition they deserve,” Head Coach Derek Jenesky said about the selections, “I was disappointed with the league naming Mo and Clancy to Honorable Mention, I thought they deserved fist team billing, but all in all it was a good day for both teams.  I was proud that the men were able to get representation with Sully’s selection after such a tough year.  All 7 definitely deserved the honors.”
