On Saturday, February 13th, the Men's volleyball team traveled to the Community College of RI in search of their first match win of the year.  Facing Clark, CCRI and Bryant the team knew they would have to work well together to gather momentum throughout the day.  Leading off against Bryant the match seemed a carbon copy of the majority of the seasons matches, play tough, but lose both sets.  Game one was a back and forth battle until the team from Rhode Island would snatch a close 25-20 victory in the last few points, while game two Bryant started fast and would eventually coast to the 25-14 victory.

Match number two was against the hosts, CCRI, and followed the exact same pattern.  Game one was another back and forth affair, with Stonehill unable to get the crucial points when needed, losing in the end 25-22.  Game two CCRI would be the aggressor, jumping on the team from the Hill early and often pulling away 25-14.

Match number three was a different story however, as Stonehill was final able to break into the win column with a hard fought three set victory.  Captain Derek Marchand was instrumental in securing the victory when at one point he served four consecutive aces.  Taking their first set of the year from their opponent 25-12, Stonehill was back on their heels in the second set, losing 25-18.  In the third and deciding set, the purple and black refused to lose as they final came up with the big shots when needed, finishing off Clark 15-11. The win placed the team in 7th place in Division II - Central. The men will face Clark, Coast Guard, SCSU, St. John's, UMass-Lowell
