Wild Night in DI and DII Floor Hockey Playoffs as two of four games go into overtime

Both DI and DII Men’s Floor Hockey Championship games are set as playoff action heated up last night at the Ames Sports Complex.

In Men’s DII Semi Final #1, Pat Fuelleuton potted the game winner and Ryan Hess added the clincher as Team Dedwards upset Foster’s Run 5-3.  Matt Dodge, Mike Bridges and Sean Lynch all scored single goals for Team Dewards, while Pat Olsen scored two markers for the losers.

In the Second Semi-Final, Chris Martin scored the winner with 40 seconds remaining in overtime as Shockers would knock off Step-Dads 2-1.  Jerry Leone put the Shockers on top with a goal early in the third, only to see Joe Feeney tie the game up for the Step-Dads with three minutes remaining in regulation.

In the men’s Division I bracket, Goaltender Derek Chapdelaine stopped twenty shots for the shut-out as Beavers advanced to the Championship game with a 2-0 victory over Sneezing Pandas.  Angelo Todesca scored the game winner for the Beavers in the second, while Mike Cooke would add the empty net goal in the waning seconds.

The second semi-final would be the game of the night, as it took 5 rounds of shoot-out hockey for Team Gino to defeat Puck Bunnies 8-7.  In regulation, Freddy Massota and Brian Sullivan scored two goals each for Team Gino, while Colin Prior would fire home a hatrick for the Puck Bunnies as the score was knotted at 7-7 after three periods.  Ten minutes of sudden death could not produce a winner and the teams headed to a shoot-out.  Prior and Pat Greene each scored for Puck Bunnies in the shoot-out, but Sullivan and Massota would counter for the winners before Tyler Beauregard would fire home the game clincher.
