Brave little Toasters defeat The Dream Team in Intramural Sports Game of the Week
The opening tip of the men's Division I Intramural Sports Basketball season did not disappoint as The Brave Little Toasters defeated the Dream Team 40-37 in a hotly contested battle of two title contenders.
The Dream team, captained by Bernard Mathis, would jump to an early 6 point lead with five different scorers chipping in with points, however, captain Paul Ostrander's Brave little Toasters would fight back, gamely trimming the lead to 1, 16-15 at the half.
Both teams would settle into a rhythm in the second half, but it was the Toasters who would begin to pull away mid-way through the second half, as Ostrander would can two huge three pointers from the wing. Jared Gaines and Stephan Neville's timely buckets would pull the Dream Team close down the stretch, but clutch free-throw shooting by Oscar Alvarez and Scott Sepp would provide the final margin of victory. Ostrander and Sepp would pace the Toasters with 8 points apiece, while The Dream team would be led by Gaines, with 11 and Neville, with 10.
