Men's Lax rebounds with hard fought win over CCSU

Coming off of a tough loss to Division I opponent Boston University, Stonehill College was looking to rebound against an evenly matched CCSU team.  The afternoon game, which was played in New Britain, Connecticut, saw Stonehill take the early lead in the first quarter by a score of 2-1, as Attackman Colin Lancey and midfielder Conor Green put Stonehill ahead, and the defense would clamp down ensuring the team would lead after one period.   CCSU would strike back quickly, scoring two quick goals to take the lead, but the men from the Hill would rally back with three goals in a row, scored by Colin Lancey, Conor Green, and Dan Cermack, and at the half, the Purple and black would cling to a 6-4 lead.
Entering the third quarter of play, Stonehill goalkeeper Mike Phillips would be the story, as he would limit the home team to 0 goals while Stonehill would notch an additional two goals.  With the score at 8-4, CCSU would mount a mini comeback, closeing the gap to 8-6, but Stonehill would respond down the stretch, matching them the rest of the way for a solid, 11-8 victory.
Leading Stonehill to victory were Colin Lancey (4 goals, 1 assist), Conor Green (3 goals), Dan Cermack (3 goals, 1 assist), and Mike Phillips who saved 64% of CCSU’s shot attempts.  Jimmy Barrett helped Stonehill maintain possession throughout the game by winning 13 face-offs in the game.
