Playoffs Approaching For Men’s and Women’s Floor Hockey
With divisional playoffs just around the corner, both Men’s
and Women’s floor hockey teams played some of their most
pivotal games of the season. The Ugly Pucklings and Chix with
Stix may have been the lone Women’s league game of the night,
but had arguably the best contest. Bacall Brooks played the
game of her life and had five goals and two assists in the game for
Chix with Stix. Shelly Morris was equally impressive, scoring
all her team’s five goals. With the score at 7-5, Gigi
Solimando put the game away for Chix with Stix with her third goal
of the day to finish off her hat trick, and a final score of 8-5 in
favor of Chix with Stix.
In Men’s Division I action, Young Gunz took on The Hockey
Team. Four players scored multiple goals in the game for
Young Gunz and a balanced attack gave them the edge early on.
Brenden Greene and Kevin Aufiero both scored three goals in the
game to lead Young Gunz, as they grabbed an 11-6 victory. In
Men’s Division II, the Juggahos and Puckin A squared off in a
tight divisional game. The Juggahos got an early two goal
advantage thanks to two goals from Peter Castrichini, and never
looked back. Puckin A made a comeback late in the game with
two consecutive goals from Matt Murmello, but fell short to the
Juggahos by a final score of 8-3.
