Higher seeds advance in the Quarterfinal action of Intramural Basketball as many games end in routs
NWA, captained by David Mazzariello, showed a tough defense for a majority of the first half, but could not stay with the favored Brave little Toasters. Relying heavily on Matt Branigan and Mazzariello, who scored 14 points apiece and all of the team's points in the first half, the team could not keep the accurate shooting of Allen Hodgdon and Kyle Sheridan. Jumping out to a to a 15-9 lead, just under the midway point of the first half, the Toasters finished with a 13-9 run to close the first frame extending the score to 28-18 by the half. The Brave Little Toasters continued to establish themselves on the offensive end of the court in the second half with another 14 points scored by Ostrander and 6 points by teammate Sheridan, who finished with a game high 16.
In other action, The men's DI final four was set as Stephan Neville scored a game high The opening playoff game of the Men's Division 1 Intramural Sports Basketball season was a victorious one for the hot shooting Brave Little Toasters, captained by Paul Ostrander, as they defeated NWA 60-32.
28 points to lead The Dream Team to a 55-51 nail biting win over OFF Constantly. Robert Percacciolo had 24 points and Phil Coriaty had 17 in the losing effort.
In the Women's bracket, Say Ah advance with a forfeit, while SWAGETZ , paced by Morgan Rubano's 12 points, blew out water bottle, 45-8. Kirsten Rene chipped in with 10 and Kelly Regan added 6 for the victors.
All of the higher seeds advanced in the men's DII tournament. Nantucket Nectar jumped out to a 42-5 lead at halftime and blew out Aldean Army 80-22. James DeAtto poured in 24 points and Matt Skane added 15 for the victors.
Frankencense held Chest to its lowest output of the season, but still came up short against the number one seed 35-20, Jay Norton scored 12 and Jordan Fuller 11 for Chest.
Mike Goretti's Buckets team eked out a 42-40 victory over Paper Clip. Eric Shelters had 13, and Wayne Sheppard 12 for Buckets while Brian Casaceli had 11 for the losing team.
Georgetown Goonies rode Joe She's 13 points and matt LaVoie's 11 points to victory in the Final quarterfinal game of the night. A 23-7 first half lead was enough for the Goonies to cruise in the second half.
