Tough tests ahead for Men's and Women's Rugby as conference slate announced
As competition picks up, the road to the playoffs for both rugby
teams will be difficult. Men's Rugby opens at home Friday
September 17th @7:00pm vs Salve Regina, while the ladies face off
against Providence College the the following day at 10am on
the Rec Fields.
For the Men, the home opener will be a re-match of last year's
final game of the season where Salve defeated Stonehill 42-5 to
keep the purple and black out of the playoffs. The Ladies
will have a huge task themselves as they face a Providence team
that has been playing at the DI level for the last five years.
"Both teams have brutal schedules as there are no easy games in
either league," commented head Coach Derek Jenesky, "Either team
could make the playoffs this year, the Men just need to learn and
continually get better, while the Women just need to play together
as one cohesive unit."
On top of Salve, the Men will have to face Bryant and UMASS
Dartmouth both playoff teams from a year ago, as well as former DI
school Providence College. The ladies have it just as rough
as after Providence they tackle BC, Bryant and URI. Click on
either team's individual page to find a full detailed schedule for
the 2010 season.
