McNamara scores record 24 first half points as Wallpaper advances to Womens final with ease plus the rest of the scores from semi-final night
Lauren McNamara set a Rec Sports women's playoff record with 24 first half points, as Wallpaper would jump out to a 34-14 first half lead and never look back, cruising to a 53-38 victory over Say Ah. Sam Kranz would score 16 in the loss, while McNamara would finish with a game high 30, including 7 three pointers.
In the second semi-final, SWAGETZ turned back Defending Champs 27-21. In a low scoring and defensive struggle SWAGETZ would trail 9-8 at the break, but would score the first 6 points of the second half, never relinquishing the lead. Morgan Rubano led the way in the upset with a game high 8 points.
In Men's Division II action both of the favorites breezed into the finals with double digit wins. Nantucket Nectar got 10 points from Alex Harrison, and 9 points each from Rob Von Stein and James DeAtto, to knock of Buckets 51-40. Leading 23-13 at the half, the Nectars matched Buckets shot for shot as the lead never dipped below six. Nick Iannazzo led the way for buckets with 10 points.
In the Second semi-final, Chest blew open 24-14 halftime lead, outscoring the Georgetown Goonies by 22 in the second half, en route to a 55-23 shellacking. Mike Pecca scored 16 and Jordan Fuller chipped in with 12, while Joe Shea led the way for the Goonies with 8.
In the DI bracket, Tune Squad kept on rolling and may be the team to beat heading into the finals. An 18-2 run to start the game effectively ended it, as Tune Squad rolled into Thursday's championship game in style with a 56-39 victory over The Dream Team. Mike White had 17 and Ryan Fitzgibbons added 13 for the victors, while Stephan Neville was outstanding in defeat, scoring 23 for the game.
Joe Manning's Floor had a much tougher time of it in semi-final #1, as they could not shake the Brave Little Toaster until the final seconds. With the game tied 21-21 at the half, key second half buckets by Manning and Gabe Brooks helped Floor to the 43-40 victory. Manning finished with 14 on the night, while Allen Hodgdon was solid in the losing effort, pumping in 15 points.
