Stonehill College and Rec Sports Department host 2010 Special Olympic Basketball Qualifier

On Saturday, February 6th, over 150 Stonehill student volunteers came together to assist and cheer on 57 teams consisting of over 500 basketball players.  The annual Massachusetts Special Olympics South Section State Basketball Assessment Tournament is the best day of the year for Hill Rec Sports.  Filled with students, athletes, and supporters, the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex saw almost 50 games of basketball throughout the day.  Stonehill students generously donated their time and efforts by running the entire tournament, mingling and taking photos with the athletes, and providing activities for players in between games.  This year's record number of teams suggests that the athletes and staff of the Special Olympics enjoy it as much as we do.

The Stonehill Women's Rugby team will continue their support of the Special Olympics of Massachusetts by participating in the 12th Annual "Passion Plunge" on March 6th.  More information can be found at www.PassionPlunge.org.
