The Trinity Wins 3 v 3 Basketball Championship in Dramatic Fashion

Coming into the Championship game, The Trinity and Team IVAN were dead even in league play against each other, with one win apiece.  With the title at stake, both teams knew this was their chance to take home the coveted Championship T-shirt.
The first game started with a quick two point basket from Ivan Almeida, who was quickly answered with a two pointer from the Trinity’s, Rob Percacciolo.  Then, in an act of incredible command of the court and individual athleticism, Team Ivan’s, Ivan Almeida scored the next eight consecutive points for Team IVAN.  Complete with two dunks, and three-two point baskets, Ivan all but dominated the competition en route to a quick 11-2 first game win.
After regrouping from their first game loss, The Trinity knew it was going to take some great defense in game two if they were going to stay alive.  Keeping the score close, the Trinity’s David Mazzariello and Chris Chaisson both did their part on the defense end to contain sharpshooters, Jay Friberg and Ivan Almeida.  With the score at 8-5 in favor of Team IVAN, The Trinity came up with possibly their most important sequence of the season.  Chris Chaisson scored a two point basket to get within one point of Team IVAN, while Rob Percacciolo added four consecutive points, with two drives to the basket and one two pointer to close out a dramatic 11-9 come from behind win in game two.
With the Championship game notched at one game apiece, it would come down to a third game to decide the victor.  Game three started off very evenly with both team’s deadlocked at 3-3, when Team IVAN stepped up their play and went on a 7-3 run.  At 10-6, the Championship was all but in the hands of Team IVAN, but The Trinity would level the game with two shots from behind the arc.  With an upset in the making, The Trinity’s, Rob Percacciolo rose up for the game-winning shot and sunk the hopes of Team IVAN, completing an incredible 12-10 victory for The Trinity.  After the game, Hill Rec Sports spoke with Rob Percacciolo about the game.  “It was a really tough game out there tonight.    I give a lot of credit to Team IVAN and I’m really proud of our team for sticking in there and never giving up.”
