Women's rugby rolls in tune-up for Nationals

The Women’s Rugby team recorded a nice 44-0 home win over a depleted Wellesley side, Saturday on the Rec Fields.  The win came at a cost as the team would lose another starting forward, Senior Meg Martinez, to a season ending broken fibula and dislocated ankle.

Jumping out to a 22-0 halftime lead, Junior Inside Center Katie Omalley would lead the scoring parade in the first half, followed by Junior Flanker Ashley George, Freshman Prop Morgan Segale and Junior Fly-half Laura Fischer on a long run.

The second half would end exactly as the first one began, as Sophomore Second Row, Fionna Lunney, Sophomore Wing Emily Helming , Junior scrumhalf Deborah Caruso and O’Malley again would all find the try zone.  Fischer and O’Malley would each drill one conversion on the day for the Purple and Black who now will head to Sanford Florida to take on Washington State University in the DII round of 16 national playoffs.
