Poundtown Flawless In Flag Football Championship Win

The much anticipated Championship final between veteran squads, Poundtown and Show Me Your TDs took place under the lights on Wednesday.  With both teams sporting near perfect campaigns this season, the prospect of having two of the most talented teams square off brought out a sizable crowd of onlookers.
The game started with high pressure defense from Poundtown, who forced the first turnover  in just the third minute of play.  The interception was run back 20 yards for the opening  touchdown by Poundtown’s, Mike Autore.  Just a few minutes later, Poundtown would strike again with a short pass from quarterback, Rob Percacciolo to teammate Andrew Diozzi.  Ahead 14-0, after just six minutes, Poundtown was in cruise control and added one more touchdown from Paul Ostrander to take a commanding lead.  Show Me Your TDs mounted their first strong attack with just seconds to spare in the first half, but ran out of time and trailed 21-0 at halftime.
Looking to get going in the second half, Show Me Your TDs got a stop on their opponent’s first possession with some great coverage by Brian Sullivan and Chris Lake.  However, quarterback Ryan Fitzgibbon was unable to get his team their first score after tight, two-man coverage prevented him from getting far outside the pocket.  Poundtown’s second possession of the half came with greater success as Rob Percacciolo’s deep, 25-yard pass was caught in the end zone by the outstretched hands of Allen Hudgdon.  With the score at 27-0, the game was all but over, and an extra point conversion by Poundtown would put the game out of reach and ensure them of their third consecutive championship 34-0.
