Men’s Lax Notches Sixth Consecutive Win
Stonehill set the tone from the outset of the game, playing
patient, settled offense and limiting CCSU’s chances on
defense. The Blue Devils were unable to find an answer to
Stonehill’s dodgers and Hill ended the first half ahead 8-0.
In the second half, Stonehill kept the pressure on and coasted to
an 18-6 victory.
Stonehill’s defensive unit of Mike Phillips, Charlie
MacDonald, Jordan Medeiros and Mike Filbin played strong team
defense and gave CCSU few opportunities to shoot. Connor Green shot
very well, scoring 6 goals and adding an assist. Anthony Powers
assisted on 4 goals and scored 1 of his own. Nick Palen played well
in transition and scored a personal-best 4 goals. Sean Golden went
10 for 14 on faceoffs and scored a goal as well. Connor McDevitt
scored a hat trick and added an assist.
This was Stonehill’s last home game of the season and was
also Senior Day. Seniors Jimmy Barrett, Jordan Medeiros, Connor
Green and Bobby Flippin were acknowledged before the game for their
hard work and dedication to the team. All four seniors performed
well in the game and played leadership roles on the field.
“Today we had another great win. It’s great to end the
regular season on a 6 game win streak. All the guys played well and
fought for the full 60 minutes. Our seniors stepped up and led the
team as they have all season. Now we’re in a good position to
make a run in the PCLL playoffs next weekend,” said Head
Coach Joe McDonough.
