Men’s Lax Wins Fifth Straight In Rout of SCSU
Stonehill came out firing and scored within the first 40 seconds of
the game. Strong face off play and hard riding kept the ball in
Stonehill’s offensive end for the vast majority of the game,
and Southern Connecticut was rarely able to settle the ball on
their own offensive end.
Sean Golden, Jim Amato, Kevin Diamond and Justin Giddings won a
combined 26 out of 28 face offs. Golden also scooped a team-high 12
ground balls, and Giddings scored a hat trick. Bobby Flippin scored
8 goals and added 2 assists. Anthony Powers gave 5 assists. August
Radbill and Connor Green each scored 2 goals and 2 assists. Tom
Connolly scored his first career goal. Mike Phillips and Alex
Arnott split time in net and held SCSU to just 4 goals.
Head Coach Joe McDonough pleased with his team’s performance,
stated, “Our team came out and took care of business tonight.
Our attack looked very good and played patient, methodical offense
which is what we’ve been working toward all season. A lot of
players saw more action than they’re used to tonight, and
they showed how much their skills have progressed and how well they
understand what we’re trying to do on the field. All very
encouraging things as we get closer and closer to the
postseason.”
Stonehill’s next game is their regular season finale, a home
game on Saturday, April 28, at 2PM, against the Central Connecticut
State University Blue Devils.
