Stonehill Dance team hosts an enchanting "Dancing with the Stonehill Stars"
On November 4th the Stonehill College Dance Team held the first season of Dancing with the Stonehill Stars in Alumni Hall. Seven members of the Stonehill College staff teamed up with members of the dance team to put together a dance piece and then performed in front of 6 judges. Professor Su of the mathematics department took home the winning trophy dancing to "I like to move it, move it" with senior Jill Jansson and Sophmore Rose McClimans. First runner up went to the head coach of the women's basketball team, Trish Brown. Second runner up was Jim Hermelbracht, the director of Student Activities. Other performers included Beth Devonshire; Director of community standards, Patty; who works in the bakery, Colin Disch & Tyler Moody; assistant football coaches and Jeany Cadet; the area coordinator for the courts at the college.
The show was a huge success and over 280 people came out to watch the staff dance the night away. Senior and captain of the dance team Meredith Montinieri said " All the staff worked so hard over the last semester preparing for this night. It was a great night and everyone had so much fun with this event!"
The top three will perform again with the Stonehill Dance Team at their annual show second semester.

Since its inception in 2002, the Stonehill College Dance Team has enjoyed varying levels of success.
The team performs original choreography at home football and basketball games, as well as at other campus events, including "Midnight Madness" and the Dance Club Show.
'11-'12 Dance Team Tryouts
The Dance Team will be holding tryouts for the upcoming season on Tuesday, June 21st at 4:00pm. The tyouts will take place in the Dance studio, which is located on the second floor of the Ames Sports Complex. Please click here for more information and the tryout package.
Competition
Each year the team competes at NDA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, FL. Here, in '06 and again in '07, they advanced to the final round of the competition. In August 2007, the girls placed first in DII Dance at NDA Camp in Boston, where they also received a partially-paid bid to the National Competition for the first time in the team's history.
