On Saturday, September 26th, the Hill Women's Rugby Team (1-0) hosted Boston University (1-0) for a conference matchup.  With no regular season losses in over four years, the women hoped to continue the trend.  The game, which drew large crowds for both teams, would be a good test for Stonehill to see how they were progressing this season.

The women came ready to play and jumped on their opponents from the outset. Hill's goal was getting on the scoreboard early and often.  With an opening try in the eleventh minute by junior flanker Ashley George the squad got off to a strong start.  After completing several passes, the team found themselves mere feet away from the try zone.  Breaking free from several Boston University players' moments later, Senior outside center  Alyssa Bibeau received a great pass from Junior inside center Katie O'Malley, and she was able to run along the left flank for the try.  As the lead was extended, Hill  kept applying the offensive pressure.

George scored her second try in the 24th minute, breaking free due to a perfectly executed line-out, to give the ladies a commanding advantage.  Two additional tries at the latter end of the half by George and junior hooker Olivia Gorab, increased the advantage.  Meanwhile, Junior Laura Fischer was able to convert 3 out of 5 conversion kicks to add six points to the board, making the final first half tally an astounding 31-0.  Senior Prop Tatiana Javier stated, "We got off to a great start in the first half and starts like these are definitely something we can build upon."

The second half started out a bit different than the first for the Hill women.  A productive halftime motivated the Women from Boston University to be much improved on both sides of the ball.  Keeping possession in the Hill third of the field, BU managed an unconverted score in the 15th minute to show Stonehill they would not back down.  As the half continued, it was obvious to see that the momentum had changed, and things were clicking both offensively and defensively for BU.  The Hill women countered with some tough defense.  Try as they might, BU was not able to cross the try line for the rest of the half, leaving the BU Terriers dispirited and fatigued.

Despite their lack of offense in the second half, the women had put up more than enough points to come out with the 31-5 victory.  Looking back on the game, Junior Katie O'Malley said, "It was obvious we played much better in the first half than second.  BU put up a tough fight in the 2nd half and we were unable to answer with any scores of our own.  While it was a good win for the team today, we do have some work to do to ensure continued success."
