Women’s Ultimate Disc On To Regionals
The Stonehill Women’s Ultimate Disc team hosted Sectionals last week and swept their competition to advance to Regionals on April 28-29th. The Ladies were able to put together a dominant effort, winning all six of their games in impressive fashion. This was the team’s second consecutive tournament win and third tournament win overall this season. Stonehill is now the #1 ranked Division III team in the Boston Metro section. Rachel Dauer picked up the team MVP for the tournament, while Captains Maggie Carmona and Jane Dudley led the team offensively; tallying over 30 assists throughout the day. Coach Jimmy Doucette said of the team’s tournament performance, “We move on to Regionals next week in Williamstown, MA. It will be our biggest test of the year up to this point. I’m excited to see how we perform.”
The Stonehill Ultimate Disc Club is open to both new and experienced players, both male and female.
Competing in the Ultimate Players Association (UPA) College Series and several major tournaments along the East Coast, the club offers fun, educational practice for new players, as well as highly competitive play for the experienced players.
In spring 2008 the Ultimate Disc team qualified for the Division III national tournament for the first time in school history, and followed that up with a repeat invitation to the 2009 nationals.
